Welcome To Tandarra
More than a decade ago, we first purchased a small acreage on mid south coast of NSW, offering our quaint cottage and peaceful surroundings as holiday accommodation and leasing land next door to run our horses.
What started as an investment quickly turned into a passion and longing for a real farm. Managing and improving our small acreage to maximise land health and productivity, along with training our horses (and more importantly ourselves!) with natural horsemanship techniques placed us in a good position for farming and running large and small livestock.
Searching locally for over a year and not liking the size of acreage versus the purchase prices, we expanded our search area and stumbled across Tandarra, a near 200 acre farm in the lush productive region of the Bega Valley, renown for Dairy Farming - and famous for Bega, Bodalla and Tilba milk and cheese.
The region’s heritage is Aboriginal, with Tandarra referencing Camp Here (Tandara) and Resting Place (Tanderra). We fell in love before we even looked inside the house and thought the name very appropriate - we wont be leaving here, it will be our Final Resting Place!
Owned and operated by Jenny and John, Tandarra Hilltop Farm is a professionally-run farm, based in Cobargo/Yowrie on the beautiful far south coast of NSW. Our livestock includes Huacaya Alpacas, Australian Cashmere Goats, Texel and Dohne Merino sheep, Belted Galloways and Highland Cattle.
We specialise in breeding quality over quantity. Our services include selling animals as Pets or Breeding stock, raw and processed fine Fleece, Cattle Hides and Sheepskins, selling stock for purposes of high quality grass fed meat and fabulous truly free-range grass fed chicken eggs.
With large alpaca, cashmere, texel and merino herds, and colours ranging from White to Black with everything in between, we can supply quantities of fleece as small as 100grams to 10’s of kilos.
